dates or periods as conditionsask-question All questions

Could dates or periods (e.g. 01 Jan 2021 to 31 March 2021) be added to the conditions ?

Good feedback GU!  You can currently check the time or day of the week, but not specific dates.  I assume you would want to check if it's after a date, before a date or between two dates?  I'll add this to my todo list - I see how this could be useful for others as well.

Hi Derek,

Precisely, you got my point.

I'd like to be able to condition running certain actions for instance to the date being between April 1st and September 30th.

This would allow tailoring some sequences automatically to e.g. opening an awning based on dates periods and not just daylight/time.

Thanks

Got it 👍  The next few weeks are a bit busy for me but I have some updates planned for the start of next year so will aim to add this then as well. I'll post back here once it's available.

Awesome. Thanks Derek and enjoy Xmas

Hi Derek, was this implemented?   It's minor, but I have a sequence for turning my xmas lights on as sunset and off at a fixed time.  would be cool if I could set a date window to run the lights instead of disabling the sequence.

Be even better if Sequematic could take down the lights in January and put them back up, but that's a different issue :)

WAIT..!

I just implemented something a bit cheesy, but works for years at a time and only needs adjustment on February 29 (leap years).

I have a DAYNO variable.  I set it today to 318 (November 14).  I have a sequence that increments it by 1 each day at 00:00.  If it is equal to 366, it get set to 1.

Then in my Christmas light sequence, I trigger on sunset, and check if check DAYNO is after 335 and below 10.  So GU, depending on the precision needed, this may work fine for you.

Happy Sequencing!

Daniel

Haha nice thinking Daniel! And thanks for sharing - hopefully this is useful for someone else.

It's been quite a busy year for me and unfortunately I haven't been able to implement the new condition yet.  It's still on my todo list though - I'll post back here once it's available.

The SEQUEmatic bot is still new and learning. If you don't get the answer you need, just ask to speak with Derek and your chat will be transferred.
