trigger a sequence from variable All questions

Hi Derek,

I think it would be helpfull for some situations if we could trigger a sequence everytime a variable increases or decreases, in addiction to the ones we already have. No idea if its hard to implement tho.

Use case scenario, i keep track of how many ppl are at home at any given time, and i want the light on my porch to light up everytime one of us get home (independently of how many are already home). If i could trigger a sequence everytime the variable (ppl at home) increases it would be easier. Atm i need to create a new variable to make it work.

(newbie here, so if there is a way to do it with the same variable im sorry)

Hi Mario. There is an option to set the trigger when a variable changes. This doesn't check whether it increased or decreased - just changed.

Would that work in your scenario? If not, it shouldn't be too hard for me to also add the increase and decrease triggers.

Yeah i know, but its doesnt work for me, because i want the light to light up when i get home not when i leave. Because it doesnt make much sense, by the time the geofence kickes in Im already several meters from home. I made a new variable to make it work, so i got it covered but it would be easier if we got that option.

Thanks a lot!

No worries, let me see what I can do. I'll post back here once it's ready.

I know this was asked a long time ago, but I'm finally catching up on my todo list. To close out this thread, confirming it's now possible to trigger a sequence when a variable either increases or decreases.
